In the years 2010 and 2011 there was lots of volcano activity in Iceland. The 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajökull is perhaps the most infamous volcanic eruption of modern times. It had 3 different eruption but the second and third one were the only ones too produce ash. The ash cloud from the volcano would stop flights around the world and the Eyjafjallajökull would be talked about around the world.
In 2010 beneath Vatnajökull, Grímsvötn begin a short eruption that would only last 7 days but had a much greater effect on the region around Vatnajökull. Many farmers would loose livestock and it became dark as night in the area that was covered in ash. Thankfully the eruption lasted only 7 days and there were no human casualties.
